  Frequently Asked Questions
What is imaginarium: Institute of Fine Arts?

imaginarium: Institute of Fine Arts is a non-profit business. The corporation was formed on February 2, 2007 by Mary Blyth Jones, sole owner. Mary Jones is the president and CEO of imaginarium. The corporation was formed to offer arts education and experience for people on the West Side of the San Joaquin Valley. We in Coalinga are isolated from many other opportunities. It is important that our children and all others have a wide array of art experiences to enhance our growth and development.

Since imaginarium is a non-profit business, why does it cost money?

There are costs involved in running ANY business. We have to pay rent, utilities, royalties, equipment purchases and maintenance costs, and cover materials. What about paying our staff?? Staff does not receive salary or stipend except for those donations from individuals who secifically designate funds toward stipends and or payment for work.

Can I make a donation to imaginarium?

Absolutely! There are many needs as we are just beginning our institute. If you have any of these things lying around your house and want to get rid of them, please contact us. Donated items of this sort will allow us to spend our money on Arts related goodies rather than on mundane furniture! We are pleased to announce that imaginarium has received its 501(c)(3) status as a federal tax exempt public charity. Your contributions are tax deductible. Items we are needing: Refrigerator, Changing Table, Area rug, Clocks, Instruments not being used, door stops... (list could go on, but I won't do that!) We've been given so many wonderful items already from generous Coalingans. Thank you West Hills College for some really great file cabinets, tables and white boards. No local donations are used to pay staff. All staff is currently working on a volunteer basis. We are searching for grants to fund the stipends or salaries of staff members.
